I was given this China cabinet years ago and really don't know anything about it. Someone in my family said they thought it came from the UK. I have no idea. Any help is appreciated. It seems handmade I think it's beautiful. Thanks

I could see this being English, circa 1920s-40s .I could also see it being American, same time period. Nice size, not too big,not too small.

The details of the feet, the pediment and the corner finials are definitely a cut above the usual!

Agreed. And another cool feature is each glass pane is its own pane its not one large piece of glass with wood overlay. And it looks like the original key.

Not sure of the wood. I would have thought maghogny, but the color doesn't look right. I agree this "a cut above the usual" with the mullion? glass, broken pediment with a flame, cup, or whatever in the middle, finials, and claw & ball feet. These claws are of a bird, eagle. I suspect this is American made as opposed to Great Britain or Europe because of the bird's claw.
"In America, a bird's claw was generally used, mostly the eagle's."

I don't know the age or whether a period piece or a what style. To me it could date from the late 1800s to the 1950s. Obviously I'm not one of the forum's furniture gurus. Wait for others to chime in.

Here's the a slightly similar one:

This may be the the same one, but marked down:

I don't think anyone mentioned but the style is Chippendale. Configuration and wood used (looks like cherry) suggests American and 20th century. As others suggest, the quality is better than most we see. Because of the use of cherry, I am thinking 1950s but could have been made earlier.

Looks Edwardian to me, early 20th, with those paned doors. The torch flame finial is interesting. Nothing on the locks or hinges?

I will check the lock and hinges after work this evening and report back. Thanks!

Lock and hinge. Nothing I could see on the lock and the hinge looks newer.

Lock looks 19th C. The hinge might jsut be a replacement or simply rather clean.

The wood in this last photo looks more like mahogany. Could be Edwardian as ownedbybear suggests.

Belated question to all, would you call this a china cabinet, a display cabinet or as in that link I posted in reply #6 a bookcase? To me china cabinets seem to always have a door or 2 at the bottom for storage. I have a similar mahogany cabinet with glass mullion doors, urn finials and spade feet, but it is in 2 parts with a double door storage section at the bottom. It has always been used as a china cabinet.

Like Brad said the last pics posted do look like the wood is mahogany while the first set of pics don't.

Hmmm..... "ymmv" is a new one for this old broad. Looked it up to see "Your mileage may vary." Another hmmmm... wonder if you noticed there is a "lot of water" under my bridge. Then of course saw for forum talk "your results may vary."

Soooo if I happen to be in conversation about one of these across the pond I'll remember to call it a display cabinet, and on disembarking from a plane or ship back in the states will call it a china cabinet. ;)
