Unknown pewter Cup/ measure

Hello all,

Does anyone know what this cup/ measure is? The chap that sold it to me seemed to think It was English but I'm not sure. Anyone recognise the marks?

This one with the RM mark says Made Italy.

Hmmmm, does anyone think there may be significance in the the difference in the graphic(s) of the "mark" of the pot and its contents in Matthew Bunting's Post #1 compared to the graphics of the "pot/urn" in Say-it-slowly's "Made in Italy" Post 2 above?

Of course any differences in the mark(s) could be explained by the lapse of years between the making of the two items and not just because one is showing "Made in Italy."

 

At the moment I can't ID the maker or country of origin. I did find a pewter bucket with the same R.M. touchmark - maker's touch, but the 2nd touchmarks are different. It is on rubylane.com. The seller doesn't know ID either. The seller speculates "imitation hallmarks common in the pewter trade and that the piece is rather new from the mid to late 20th century." The conditions of the touchmarks do look in relatively good condition with little if any wear that could mean no earlier the the mid 20th century. Then again those 2nd touchmarks might be city marks for countries such as Germany, Switzerland, etc...??
