image.jpg image.jpg So I done a lot of research on this and it seems the label in this is from the 60's, I'm looking for the value of this rare beauty because I can't find one like it anywhere online, if anybody out there knows about this designer much less his clothing line from that time period I would appreciate it. Thanks for looking 8)

I read everything on that man, it took me awhile to find out that the tag was from the 60's era. Thanks Marie.

Hi Linda, I'm no help with vintage clothing but I did find this info about labels which makes me think it could also be later than 60's. I also am not sure what I'm looking at so I'm guessing there's a chance others might not either. It that cut velvet? (not that I'll be any help even if I knew all that but it might help someone:)).

Anyway here is the link to labels.

    Hey Say
Yeah this is the page where I found the label info and its a velvet but it is super soft and very luxurious. I found a dress of the same material yet it was more up to date because they reproduced some of his vintage line. He did a safari line of animal prints in the 70's but it's a hard one to find info on this shirt. I might have to invest $15 at Sotheby's online vintage clothing appraisal.

Later. That devore velvet was hot in the 1980s. And it looks like an 80s label to me. Is there a content or care label please?

This might help. You'll see label hasn't changed much over time. And keep in mind this is the YSL boutique label, not couture. Impossible to tell from your cropped photograph but very unlikely 1960s. 1980s a possibility but more photographs would be helpful. By way, you're referring to this item as a "shirt." Don't you mean "blouse?"

Owenedbybear the only label is the one with no other, the label does not have Yves on it which his boutique that opened in London 1969 was called Saint Laurent Rive Gauche http://www.refinery29.com/saint-laurent-paris-history
Yes the fabric is the same Say that's the only pic I found besides a skirt.

I'd have said straight out of the 80s stylistically if nothing else. The size on the tag is a US 10, about a UK14 if I remember properly. Sizes changed in the 80s, so if a person who can normally wear one of those modern sizes fits into it, that's your answer. Some of the 80s stuff is making a comeback, so it might be worth more than it was a few years ago.

Good point on size, measure the thing.

I think it's 70's, I've found more tags like mine on velvet items from that time. Yet the tag shows up again in the 80's, who knows..it's a mystery, :cyclops:

From the cut and pattern of fabric, I would also date this to the 1980's. Does it have shoulder pads?

I sold a Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauge jacket just a few months ago with a very similar tag. Mine happened to be 1970's, but honestly older is not necessarily better. Wear-ability, condition (extremely important), size, and what is in fashion at the time. But not everything vintage YSL has good resale value. For blouses, the most expensive Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauge on Ebay completed this week sold for $159, the least for $3.99.

I thought that mine, a wear-able cut, desirable size, excellent condition, would have sold for more but it only sold for $50, w/free shipping at that. Sales are just so-so for this line. I'm not sure I would pay $15 for an appraisal. If you sell on Ebay, just put it up at the lowest you are willing to accept, and see what happens.

Here are photos of the label from the one I sold:

Lucille I will end up selling it on eBay, mine doesn't have that extra tag under the label, saw one of blue leopard print from the 80's on etsy, in the 500's range. At this point sales on eBay have really gone down in the last few months and people aren't buying like they used to.

Looks like yours used to have a similar extra tag, can see remnants of it in your photo, but probably doesn't impact value too much not to have it. The only thing I can say about the Etsy blouse, if it was asking price only, it may or may not be relevant. If it sold for $500, that is a different matter.

Either way, very best of luck with it! :)
