    Hi Messi,
You would be climbing the walls. Hahhahahahahaha. I would love to see what you would have done after Sandy. We had NO electric, no gas,no phone service for 14 days and that included cell service since the towers were down. Talk about climbing walls I would have sold my first born for a cup of real coffee. After six days some church group hiked into our development and passed out hot soup and sandwiches it was like Manna from heaven for 30 mins.:p God bless those people.

While excavating part of the garage I found bag of really cheap looking costume necklaces that I'd obviously put aside as near total rubbish.
Well, being a bit bored I took a careful look.

And found what I am 90% sure is a Chinese 18 carat gold chain with a jade heart pendant, 8 grams minus the heart. The tag is very tiny (you can just see it in the picture by the heart) but it appears to say 18 followed by the Chinese character for gold which looks like a little man in a hat.

The lesson is never, ever to assume you have really checked everything.

A buyer fished a gold ring out of a tray of costume odds and ends I had on display at an antiques fair for a pound a piece, and instead of snapping it up, she asked my partner if it should be in there, did she know it was gold.

She wears that ring all the time as a reminder that there are unselfish people in the world, and she'd met one.

[IMG] Thank you so much Sharona! You have found some pretty great things too!
This was sold as costume and is marked 750 with other hallmarks.
I can't seem to figure out what the green stone is. Any thoughts?
    Thanks all!

    Wow that's pretty nice
    Thank you!
Do you think it is stone or glass?

I think it's some type of gemstone. Tried to research what type of stone it could be and I have come up empty handed.

Even with a magnifier, these eyes can't see this stone absolutely clearly, but it looks like shattuckite to me

That pendant shines out like a good deed in a naughty world and I'd have spotted it from across a room. It is so obviously not a costume piece only Blind Lemon Jefferson could have mistaken it for junk. Although it looks blue to me.

Thank you for taking a look. Yes, those are gemstones set in the gold. Af, you always make me chuckle!
Here are some close ups of the hand. It's more green in person than blue.[IMG]

Nice piece, looks to me like Amazonite, have seen it in Brazilian figas, but right off hand, can't recall seeing it used in Italian mano ficas...

Amazonite..thank you, Cheryl! I will look in that direction. Maybe the piece is Brazilian.

Looked up the meaning of the figa hand -- seems to be a charm to ward off the evil eye, etc. But I leave it to you to google it as it involves signifying certain female parts...

LOL! Yes, I have been looking on the internet. Interesting read!
Growing up in an Italian household, everyone wore a Horn to ward off the evil eye.
They were even pinned on babies tee shirts!
