I am at a loss on this one, usually I have an idea on what to google to begin my research but this one has me baffled. I don't have a clue where to being searching. Unless someone recognizes the shape of the mark I feel its not going to be discovered. again... thanks for looking and for any help you can offer. whitecass.jpg whitecass1.jpg whitecass2.jpg whitecass3.jpg

Knee jerk reaction was Italian tin glazed.

I think a lot of the all white with applied fruits are Italian too. I'd think glazed rather than tin glazed.

Something about the lid doesn't seem to match the base but maybe it's just me.

So much Italian pottery has written marks but this has an impressed one, not that it helps.

wildrose, can you edit your title to say "possibly Italian"? That way Walter might look in :)

The color looks difference on the top than on the bottom? One term you could try is Blanc de chine although I''m not really sure your piece qualifies.

Looks like a pomegranate on top. Don't know if that's a clue.

I can’t make out the mark but I agree that it most likely was made in Italy. It is a terraglia (earthenware) dish covered with an ingobbio glaze of metallic oxide. Those who speak English know it best as “Creamware” It has been popular since the mid 1700’s. It is still popular today but the best examples are found in the towns of Nove and Bassano where it is still made in large quantites
