Since the others aren't here yet, I can tell you the chopsticks are of a shape used in China and Chinese influenced parts of Asia. They are definitely not Japanese.

 

Can we see close up photos of the decorations on the brass parts?

I'd say yours is more first quarter of the 1900's...
( I say this because the blade is not of high quality...from what I can see.)

It is a chopstick trousse, with chopsticks and knife (with bone scales), and a case made of wood, covered in leather, and yes, decorated in brass or bronze.

Age? 18th, 19th century. So far as my research tells me, they don't date back beyond the 18th century. At the same time, I've never heard of them being made in the 20th century (or at least, not very far into). So something like that is at least 100 years old.

Price? It depends on quality, condition, etc. $200, $250 max, probably. They're more common than you might think (eBay is FULL of them!), and that drives down the price. That said, it's still a very beautiful piece and well worth keeping.

 

These were made largely in the Asian interior. So we're talking places like Mongolia, Manchuria, Tibet, etc. Chinese dining customs have NEVER used knives at the table, so while they might've been found in China, I think it unlikely that the Chinese ever actually used them.

I recently found things I had written here repeated in someone's Instagram posts without any kind of attribution, including something I had said in jest presented as fact.

 

Well, fortunately for you, I did some research before writing that posting!

 

I made the joke that cameos by a man whose family had a shop selling arty & decorative stuff are so common, he must have been giving one away free with every purchase. The rest was founded on more concrete evidence, mostly dug up by @Jivvy (we miss you).
