This is why I collect coins and banknotes.

Bought around 30lbs (13kg) of coins and a wad of old banknotes from a guy who calls me about every 6 months. I paid £75.
He buys tons of coins and notes from auctions and fairs but only keeps British notes and few selected coins.
He is ignorant when it comes to old foreign money and metals.
I pulled out £20 in old British coins which I can change for face value at the bank.
150 Deutsche Marks and 10,000 Spanish Pesetas which can be exchanged for Euro`s in Germany and Spain.
    100 current Swiss Francs.
    and €30 Euros.
I got lots of old collectable coins and some nice silver pieces.
I basically got it for free and i`m in profit already and I`ve not started on the notes.
The copper will go to scrap as will some of the silver.

100 & 500 Pesetas coins and 1000 Pts notes and above are exchangeable, the 200Pts coin is defunct.

KOMO......Nice find on the Baked Dirt! I LIKE it! It's not often I say that about Pottery! Get a nice artificial arrangement to put in it. It might look good with a nice grouping of faux fall leaves in it!

These WMF silverplate vases - 2 dollars each - which I believe are from the 50's or early or 60's...

This brass ashtray/demon - not sure if he's Indian or Thai - and not sure quite how old - will post him in the metalware forum for more info. Paid a little more than I usually do for anything (LOL) - 11 bucks.

That ashtray is a little creepy. Or more than a little.

The lab lady was too nice for that. Besides, by doing it right she got to walk over and vent a little at the idjuts in question. She wasn't displeased at the prospect.

I also found out that MS and sudden humidity shifts don't mix well. Again. Her Furry Majesty however seems to approve. She doesn't approve of much, especially feet. DSCF5003.JPG

She's gotten bolder; she'll now walk under my legs if I'm sitting still. Today was ...interesting. Spent $5 at a tag sale on a junky thin gold bracelet and two silver rings. Then I went to an estate sale and...mother lode. I was the first one in the door; they let me in before the official start, and the company running it didn't know beans about jewelry. I picked up Israeli sterling brooches and pendants, a silver Israeli coin, a sterling one in a paperweight (not shown) and some other incidentals ...and some scrap gold of no particular weight...and an oopsie. Doxa ladies wind-up watch, working. Better yet, it's 14k including the band. The guy version of the same watch just sold for $1900. Womens' don't go for those numbers, but the whole thing weighs 27 grams on my letter scale. The blue thing is Chinese carved turquoise and the flower is Mexican. The cameo is Italian and probably Victorian, and definitely 14k. DSCF5035small.jpg DSCF5041small.jpg DSCF5057small.jpg
