I'm having a hard time finding this artist, does anybody know how to make out this signature, is it 2 words or just one ?

    Thank You

Not very helpful but I see the first 2 letters as Mi. The last 5 letters look like sther but it looks like there is a period or comma after the s.

I disagree. Her work is so beautifully controlled. This looks like a rip-off. It's not her quality. The signature is similar, but not the same.

Sorry Bev, I have to disagree with you. The painting you show is western in style, mine is also, could be a Family member. Same signature but a little different. I just signed my name 4 times, mine never looks the same. 009.JPG

A still life is often an exercise in accuracy, the subject doesn't move so you have the time to get every detail. If this was a life portrait with a child and a donkey, (think children and animals) you haven't got the time they move about and get bored and this could be a loose style quickie. Siggie, I'm not absolutely sure, you need more examples of the artists work.

Firstly, it's unlikely anyone would fake her work: presuming that she's the one who lives in Boulder, Colorado, she's not even a professional fine artist, and only has one auction record. It's only worth faking an artist for whom there's an established market.

Secondly, a signature in oil paint will always look different to one in watercolour. Few artists can really write with a brush.

Thirdly, I don't see the difference in quality. Both pictures have the same strength and weaknesses: pattern and texture are nicely done, but there's a lack of form and structure.

I suppose you could just email her and ask her.

The signature looks right to me too. Keep in mind that artists evolve and change or even experiment with styles. Compare Picasso's early work to what he was doing later in life. Other than the signature, you would never think it was the same artist.

Thank You for this reply. I know exactly what you mean, my brother in law has 2 Picasso original paintings, both signatures a little different. His Dad in the 40's and 50's, used to travel the world to buy artwork, pottery, glass etc.
