What is this Silverplate bowl used for?

I know that there are some silver lovers here who can tell me what this bowl would be used for. I think it's a floral or centerpiece bowl. Is that correct? It measures 13 1/2" in diameter and 3 1/2" high. It has 3 feet on the bottom with a deep well in the center. That's why I thought floral bowl. It's sooo gorgeous that I want to keep it but, well, you know why I can't. The photos aren't that great, but I'm working on it. Here it is. TaaDaa!

    Hi Pam,
It is very pretty I would have used it as a centerpiece.

I would call it a center bowl, very nice, if writing a description, make sure to add pierced or reticulated, and repousse (with or without the ' on the e)

    Thanks everyone,

greg and trip - I thought a floral bowl too because of the deep center where it might be convenient to put some of that green florists foam for flowers. Although I would not want water in the bowl (that's just me, I know).

Sue, I think of Console bowls more as Fruit bowls. Mine is very deep and I have glass balls in it right now (fruit's in the frig). On this bowl, whatever goes inside, you would want the edges to show, they're so ornate.

Hmmnn -- this bowl would look nice with some fruit in it. Maybe big oranges.

Ola - I notice that the sticker does not have the IS for International Silver. Keep in mind that the Webster Wilcox name and design patents were sold by IS in 1981 to Oneida Silversmiths when you're writing your listing - could be either one.

    It's a beauty!

I don't know that I would use repousse to describe this. Lobed shape, but the decoration at the rim looks cast, as do the feet, and that's where I would expect repousse to apply.

Definitely cast and applied. I agree.

The blue Webster Wilcox label doesn't have the IS, but the bowl is also engraved with the maker's mark and it does show the IS mark.

Here's the carved mark. Hope you can see it.
