Universal Pictures Jewelry Box from 1996

I've had this box for over 10 years. My mum bought it at a boot sale around 2005, but i thought it was just a jewelry box until i looked at it today and realised who Universal Pictures are. I was wondering if anyone can help me and explain to me if its an original or a fake.

Industry gift. Would have contained some tchotchke given to international distributors or some such.

I don't see any reason not to believe that the box came from Universal in 1996. Who would go to such lengths to "fake" something like this?

Whether it was intended to be a jewelry box or contained something else that's now gone, I don't know. But I will say that jewelry boxes normally have internal compartments to keep the various pieces from getting tangled up together and make it easy for the user to find what she's looking for. Therefore, my vote would be for containing the actual "gift" which is now gone.

 

Candy probably. In the UK and Europe, booze, but when I got industry gifts in the US they were never alcoholic.

 

Does anyone know what this could cost a price range

 

a movie buff may give you $25 for it......or so...
