    Hello,

I'm wondering if someone could help me identify the style and approximate age of this cabinet.

    Thanks for looking! IMG_5577.JPG

Interesting piece. With the ability to lock the middle section, does it open to reveal a bar? I don't know what to call it: 3 section combination china liquor cabinet, display and liquor cabinet, etc...? My amateur guess to age would be c1915. Mine you this guess is *not* by a furniture guru! Do wait for more informed furniture folks' opinions.

    BTW, welcome to the forums!

Possibly English and Edwardian circa 1910 but Susan's date of 1915 could also be spot-on. has some elements of French regency furniture but don't believe it to be French, nor that old. Would call it a display cabinet or, if that is a desk in the center, a double side by side.

I bet that thing comes apart. Late 19th/early 20th, Edwardian would be about right here, might be English. I agree, those swags are in the Regency style. Is that a velvet lining?

It's a cross between a display cabinet and a sideboard. I'll go with the latter, and wonder what's behind the drop front.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll get some more detail on the function of the center locker when I see it in person. The sides are glass, too. It has some nice variety in the heights of the surfaces to display things on top. And I like those wide moldings on the top, although I don't know what they're called. I have a few too many mantel clocks, so this may be their new home.

My wife picked it up in Southern California. That is velvet lining, and as far as we can tell it doesn't come apart. It's been well cared for to keep all that fragile gingerbread intact.

    Pediments. ;)

My sideboard, a bit earlier than yours, has lovely dark green silk velvet lining.

    Hi,
I lined my 10ft tall 1850 mahogany secretary bookcase (American Empire) with antique gray watered silk. The silk cost me 250 dollars, time to do it 15 hrs the finish was priceless!:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I hated selling it but moving into 8ft ceilings I had no choice.:oops:
