I came across this small approximately 12" by 12" (not including the fringed side edges) in a box of stuff that I have had for quite some time now. I have no earthly clue as to where it came from or even when I bought it.:confused::confused:

It feels like possibly wool as it is scratchy & itchy under my arm right now. I am sure it came along with other things as I would have never bought this piece alone as I know less than zip about this kind of thing. :p:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I have seen quite a few of what I think are similar... out West... at stores that sell western goods, contemporary Mexican and Native American pottery, rugs., etc. That small size is typical, and people use them in décor as table covers or accents, stuff like that. I think certain pueblos are associated with certain designs, but that's about all I can say. :)

It would have to be a rather big doll house.

My thoughts exactly, although I did consider it when I first saw it in the box.

Looks Serbian, try a google image search for Serbian kilim motifs.
    Or specifically Pirot kilim.

I agree, a kilim from Pirot, a weaving center in Serbia.

And just in the interest of accuracy, this was woven on a floor loom, so it is actually the top and bottom of the rug that has the fringe, not the sides, since weavings like this are usually oriented as they are finished on the loom. The fringe is the knotted-off continuation of the warp threads.

    Hi Johnny,
Here are some Turkish rugs made for mouse pads but would work in doll houses.
They are 6" by 8". They are handwoven Turkish rugs

The Turks make Turkish rug postcards with real little tapestries as well. I've got some, have to see where they are in all the junk, pardon me, collections we have.

Thank you all for all of the information!!!:happy::happy:

I did a little searching around & could see some similarities in design. I may just throw it up on ebay with a low starting bid & see what happens.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't remember when and where I acquired items!
