Oh, I'm not knocking Dawn, trust me, she's an eye.

I'm just not keen on the pale stripped stuff - even more when it's internal doors.

I am with OBB on this piece. I used to take the stripped off pine pieces and the new pieces as well and used Rit dyes for clothes to dye them different shades of color usually red or green(looks like fruitwood).

Ok on the second piece...it is mine. I took that picture in the shop. But...it's British and it is not refinished. If you could see it in person you'd see the finish is worn in a lovely fashion. The patina is not white but instead shows it's many years of age. It's an almost yellow piece though appears a bit lighter in the picture. And it's coming on my 40 foot container today so maybe I will snap a few more pics.

The first piece with the copper...that's a picture only. I didn't see the dresser in person. To my eye it is a pretty piece but fairly clean...meaning likely refinished as ya'll say and I prefer my beauties to show their age (I don't believe in botox for furniture...just for me LOL). I never buy pieces that have been significantly altered or refinished beyond where they should be. I don't mind cleaning up old wax and rewaxing, but that's as far as I like to see a piece altered.

Unless it's a 16th century overcarved desk....which I have coming today But the carving was done in the 19th century I let it slide heh heh

 

I'm trying to recall which pine species stays fairly pale and my brain is fried. I do so agree: clean off old wax and rewax, yes, but I loathe that toffee apple look.

I'm fine with old clobbering too.

Oops! File under: Things I NEVER find in Savers/Value Village. I did however score some melt-me sterling weighted candlesticks ...in my basement. They were put down there and forgotten. Plain 50s wedding gift things, but they'll melt nicely.

 

This was a bit of a long way from home....

I actually bought it at a local auction. I've another similar vase, picked up in a charity shop and this sits very well with it. Both really well done.

 

My find of the day didn't make it home with me. I went to a moving sale that didn't move me. Then I went to the Ill will and bought an OK gold chain with tacky pendant for $20. It was however $70 worth of OK tacky at the pawn shop! Gotta love when that happens.

Apparently, back in the day the kitchen stove had a section of it as a water heater. I have never seen such a stove I guess. I just figured they all used the copper boilers on top.

 

Sort of a sucker for any old miniature electronics
