Downsizing home

i joined to ask a single question. I am not an antiquer.

My Dad is downsizing in Truckee, CA, and I have been told that antique dealers will sometimes go through a house and buy everything available. But most antique dealers specialize. How do I go about finding an antique dealer who will purchase must of the remaining items in my Dad's house? P.S. There are none in Truckee, as far as I can tell.

Have you looked for a resource a bit further out in the Tahoe area? You search could include auction houses and companies that conduct estate sales.

Yes. I have already had an estate sale and garage sale. My parents had collected so much over the years, there is still stuff left over, including many vintage items.

But you have prompted me to remember an auction house in Grass Valley. I will send them an email to see if they provide the service I need. Truckee is more isolated than one would think!

Meanwhile, I am happy to receive more thoughts and advice.

In my experience, sales prices through these types of venues are low, low but, if you're interest is in nothing more than liquidating... You could also look across the state line as Reno the largest population center near you (which assumes, perhaps erroneously, greater demand.)

if you've had your garage & estate sales ....you may not have much left of interest to the local population.....looking further afield is required..
