Oriental Rug Information

Hello everyone!

I picked up an oriental rug at an estate sale last weekend. I don't know much about them, so I was wondering if anyone here could give me some information on it. I'm sure it's not worth millions haha, but I am interested in its story. Specifically:

Where it is from, possible symbolic elements, the material, whether it is hand or machine sewn, and there appears to be some calligraphy on the front and a stamp on the back. Can anyone help me identify this piece? Would greatly appreciate it

 

I think its a machine woven tourist item,maybe from the 50s-60s.But thats a guess.

 

I agree with Johnny on machine made and likely for the tourist market. I guess either Pakistani or Indian made.

The big giveaways are the way the underside looks, the blanket-stitch on the sides and the way the fringe has been added.

 

Disappointing, but, I got it for cheap so I figured even if it was kitsch I got a cool rug! I'm not hip to the rug game, that's for sure!
