Ive had some problems with this today and I’m annoyed with myself.
Bottle is 5ins tall including the stopper and 2ins wide. The marks on the metal are minuscule, after trying to clean them with a soft brush and a bit of soap it got worse as you will see by the 6th picture, the first mark under the SL 054567DF-D5DE-4CE6-848C-D8B0F9EF7346.jpeg 23E582F4-AC5A-40A8-BAE6-DC899ECD6363.jpeg 9220F536-62CA-4746-B159-DDBF6113B43F.jpeg 48585171-2070-41F6-AAC6-0BAC917C8275.jpeg D36ADF6B-6F51-4A54-B65C-702D915C965A.jpeg 8B27D530-A516-428F-A5FD-421F9B0A40F1.jpeg 9E920AC8-2997-4649-8B33-FF5712C4A2C8.jpeg B3FC99C3-6ABF-487D-9B89-8CA0F9BC93A1.jpeg disappeared just leaving a glue mark.
It’s blown glass, rough Pontil underneath. I don’t know it’s origin, I can’t see any recognisable English marks on the metal. The stopper (5th picture) has a couple of even tinier marks. Anyone got any ideas about country or maker or metal please? The only marks legible are SL, I thought perhaps Saint Louis France but I’m guessing. Thanks.

Think I’ve found it. Sileda Limited, Welsh company in U.K. This one was on EBay and looks very similar.

Thanks. I had hoped it was antique when I bought it, sadly I can’t see what the silver date marks are after the disasterous cleaning but it certainly isn’t very old.

  5. Sileda were in operation in Wales from approximately 1975 - can't find an end date so possibly still in operation. They used Sheffield for hallmarking and weirdly always used Britannia standard silver - so if looking for the Lion that's possibly why you're having trouble discerning the hallmarks. Now you know your looking at the Sheffield Rose and Britiania you may be able to work out the date letter.

Thanks, Scot and Scandi. The silver is practically as thin as tinfoil so I’m wary of trying to clean it up any more.
