Finding anything marked Tiffany (and authentic- I just find the fakes) is one of my Holy Grail finds....congratulations, evelyb!!!!

 

It turns up here every so often. I find fewer fakes than I used to; I think everyone caught on.

 

It’s a piece of T G Green Cornish ware. This one is labelled Sultanas.

 

That lady looks like carved cottonwood, Navajo to me.

T G Green Sultanas are quite rare.

 

Found some Faulex at an estate sale this morning; they got to keep them. (LOL)

I was first in the door at one estate sale this morning, and blocked from buying much of anything at the second. (the idjuts put all of the jewelry and textiles up a VERY steep flight of stairs.) To take this picture I pulled stuff out, washed hands, took a snap and packed it all. Rewashed hands. Put away camera equipment and tote bag. Rewashed hands. I got a pretty decent pile at the sale. The precious metal all wasn't any great shakes; the value is all in the metal content. One big sterling necklace is all graduated beads. It and a Hollywood Jewelers 14k necklace (nothing much to look at) are headed to an antique dealer who likes precious metals too and pays well for them. The "ooh pretty" is a Robert Held Art Glass vase from Canada. Couldn't help thinking @komokwa would have nabbed that so fast.... They had a cool Judaica door knocker, but it had a cool price on it too. Left it lie. The match holder looks like some kid's camp project, but it's initialed.

I am glad somebody made out better than me today. Did you ever go all the wrong places you possibly could on a day that reached 96 degrees? That was me. There was so much going on that I tried to use probability. I went to a Masonic lodge sale that was a disaster. I found some rice pearls and some other freshwater pearls that had the clasps removed. The guy wanted a stupid amount, we agreed on a price for "charity."

Then I went to a church sale. A very poor church sale. It was fill a box for $10. I did get a small Lenox bowl and a nice Andrea Sadek fairy lamp and a Vera Bradely purse (going to the consignment store.) It was mostly very bad clothing, sad. i was the very first one there, too, so I didn't miss anything. Spent $10 on a box.

An estate sale was down the road, people were waiting to get in. Everybody was milling around, and finally one guy said they were giving out tickets in the back. The lady next to me and I went and got said tickets. When they started letting people in, they didn't go by the ticket numbers. Even if you didn't have a ticket, you got in before people with tickets if you were in line before them. The place was very small with NO air conditioning. I things were in box lots, and I did get some Provence soaps and Estee Lauder mini perfumes, soaps, and powder, unused. I got two vintage white cotton bedspreads and some a Nippon tea pot, spent a total of $18.

Then there was the surreal yard sale that advertised over 5,000 items. I figured it was a store that went out of business, wrong. I should have gone there first. It did look like the lady had a booth at an antique store at one point, and I missed jewelry. The ladies at the jewelry table were not masked and coughed a lot (probably smokers). I stayed away as much as I could from that. The ladies looked at my feet and asked what size shoe I wore because they had a PILE of old shoes, some in boxes, in the back, that I would never even look at. I told them I have problem feet and can only wear certain shoes (true.) As I was leaving, somebody hit someone else's parked car and tried to leave, hit and run. Bought a bag of jewelry that was left over for $10.

I couldn't get home due to shore traffic backed up trying to get into two shore towns, took a back woods detour and was ecstatic to be home. There is a lot going on tomorrow, but I don't think I will be out.... traffic here horrific.

 

Been a minute and I’ve stuck to online searches on different reselling platforms, auctions and blind stupid luck for my additions. I’ve lost track of it all and it will take a bit to gather and photograph but I did want to share this one item.

I’ve admired chalcedony pieces for a while and I was super excited to be able to acquire one for what I felt was a reasonable $38. Most I’ve seen are $100 or up. Seller didn’t know metal type and I haven’t explored it myself yet. Seller listed beads as missing but I don’t get the impression the other branches had beads on them. No marks on it so far. Does anyone know of an online source with more info pieces like this one?

The Victorian ladies used them to avoid getting their long dresses and skirts dirty. They clamped onto the skirt and we’re pulled up attached to a belt or waistband. There are many different designs.

Think of some old fims with a lady in a long skirt dancing and whirling around, with her skirt going up at the side. It is a skirt lifter holding it up. Also as houseful said, to lift skirts out of the dirt.

 

Skirt lifter for sure. I think the Victorians invented them, or at least made them popular - kept the hoop skirts out of the muck.

 

Went to an auction today. Again all of the really neat stuff realized primo prices (i.e. $775 glass butter churn, $450 crock, and so on), seems that a lot of folks are bored and itching to buy. I got a few things, nothing too exciting.

 

Nothing going on here today. I took a load to an antique dealer, bought some stuff too, but still came out ahead of the game. I flipped two necklaces I bought yesterday for $30 into $200 today. Gotta like when that happens!

And I bought this Elias picture frame for $5 to put pictures of the last time my Dad went fishing.... almost fell over when I looked up prices for these frames.
