please specify when this painting was written?
    Who wrote it?
Is it amateurish, or is the level already higher?
The seller wants 100 dollars for this picture. Is it worth buying?

The picture frame is already more recent, the picture was stretched anew, according to the seller.

Hi SSlava.....I love art myself......especially ones of houses, and a few hang on a wall or two in my house.

I can't judge the painting. If you find that you like it well enough to pay the asking price, (to keep) then do so.

If, however, you are buying for resale, that's another story.

It's not a painting that would appeal to me, but like everything, it's all in the eyes of the beholder.:cat:

    Thanks for the answer!
And when was this picture written? The beginning of the 20th century? Or is it the 19th century?

Hello SSlava.....you will need to wait for the "art" critics to arrive.....I'm sorry that I can't help, but if I were to guess, I'd say somewhere mid 1800's to early 1900's. And that is pure guess.

    Age isn't always that important.

The picture is most likely written in the second half of the 19th century?

I wonder who else has any opinions.
But I think that you are right.

Looks early 20th century to me but a look at the back might help. Can't decipher the signature as of yet. I like this one better than the first couple you posted. Whether or not it is worth the $100.00 depends on how much you like it. It could potentially be worth more if you can figure out the artist.

    I agree with verybrad.
And I am glad you are focussing more on quality. Quality is important, an artist as well. While subject matter is also important, the actual location is usually not that interesting. A nice story without proof to back it up, is no more than a nice story.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Wouldn't the amount of 'crackle' in it lead more to an age of around mid to late 1800's??? I can't decipher the signature either and I don't think inverting it helped any.....FWIW......

Crackle can also be caused by to much direct sunlight, or by heat, over a fireplace for instance.

The signature looks like Gbr Aman? Gabriel Aman, Asman?
There was a Rumanian painter called Theodor Aman, but his work is very different.
