Hi all, hopefully someone clever will be able to enlighten me. I've trawled the net and just can't find another or even anything similar. All suggestions gratefully received.

    Hi Tracylou and Welcome!

I don't know what it is, but am wondering if it has a slot for a spoon....perhaps for marmalade/relish.

    It is lovely.

Pictures of both the bases would be welcomed too. Choose FULL image.

Is it attached, or could it be two different things in the same pattern?

If meant to be a set, it's for something likely considered "special".
    Salt? Snuff?
Laudanum? Or no, that was a liquid...

I think it is two different things of the same pattern. If you could find the pattern you might find the item. Makers marks?

Online, you can't turn over the pots to see the base :( :)

    Handpainted, nice.

Hi Judy, no, no slot for a spoon so I wondered if it was for salt? I'm thinking it might be French. It looks like Sevres to me.

Hi, the pot and carrier fit together so well that I'm sure they are meant to be together. As for makers marks it's literally a barely visible incised squiggle so no help there.

Hi, the patterns are the same. Apparently my photo file size is too big!
No, it's not attached and definitely meant to be together.

I think that SIS has the right idea....a creme pot. So pretty.

I also agree with sis on a creme pot. I have searched and can't find a creme pot holder/carrier or whatever like this one.

    >As for makers marks it's literally a barely visible incised squiggle so no help there.<

Could we still see a pic of the marks. Some on this forum are very familiar with porcelain marks that they may be able to ID them.

BTW, cropping a pic down to just the object will also help in reducing it dimensions/size.
