    hello,
I purchased a home which had this piece in the garage. It looks like stained oak. Its a daybed, but also a pull out sleeper, which made me think it was more recent. Untill i pulled back the ripped upholstery, and saw it had a straw filled cushion. I havent found any ID tags or anything on it. Im trying to get an idea of its Era, and possibly its worth. I am a carpenter by trade so i want to restore it. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks so much

Those springs look like the ones i slept on at summer camp in the late 60's....
I don't see much value there even as a fun project ......but wait for others to chime in..!

Yeah, the straw mattress kind of threw me off. I don't think they would be manufacturing with straw in the 60's. I also am not educated in antiques what so ever though. Thanks for the input!

I found a number of other pieces in the garage that are early 20th century. 1908 push mower, 1922 shotgun, 1916 singer table. I am thinking it may be around the same era. Any information is good though :)

    Hi,
I think that the "straw" is really excelsior which was used up until the late 40s.

Ahh ok! That helps. Thanks Greg. I wasn't able to actually pull the mattress out by my self. Either the mechanism is stuck or something may be lodged in there. I am going to have another go at it today when a friend comes by, and perhaps I will be able to get some more signs.

Id think 1920s or so,its actually a cool looking little piece. Those sheets scream 1970s.

    I was thinking 1930s-40s.
    Yard art? Porch decor?
I doubt there is much value, unless you want to redo it for your own personal use.

Ok, thanks for all the input. If i do put any work into it, it would be just a fun little project for personal.
