Congrats! Jeffery S Evans seems to do very well, by and large.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I personally will never do business with Sotheby's again.....had a pair of hand carved figures that one of their well known female appraisers had pre-estimated them at (you're gonna love this!!!) $250,000.00.....from very good images we sent. HOWEVER.....once they got their hands on them, and a pair of brothers started going over them, they suddenly dropped to SIGNIFICANTLY lower estimates..... these figures were carved in either 1799 or very early 1800s.....anyhoo, we wound up hanging on to them for another 10 years, had them 'conserved' in the meantime, (as the owners before my parents bought them from a barn, had HORRIBLE house paint on them,) before we were recently able to get them sold for NOTHING like what Sotheby's originally estimated them at, but happy they at least went to a museum!!! BUT, I digressed from my original point as well...... somewhere in this post it was mentioned about reserves, and after failed auction deals......well, after our figures did not sell, I DID see ONLINE at Sotheby's, there was a BELOW reserve (but close to it) offer... that was NEVER presented to us!!! THAT fried me as I would have let them go at that price.....and would have saved us ONE HECK OF A LOT OF other aggravation down the road!!!! ALL under the bridge at this point......and thankfully behind us now, but just my reason for wanting NOTHING to do with Sotheby's!!! I have not an OUNCE of use for them! THE END!

Will you polish it up and send a new picture? Beautiful piece. The stories it could tell, if it could speak!

Jeffrey Evans told me, correctly, that items get "lost in the shuffle" at the big auction houses... Christie's and Bonham's didn't do adequate photos or description... my item had the original label from c.1800 and neither hardly mentioned it... definitely top of the line service from the smaller companies. Swann Galleries has also been very professional so far
