Ok I hand delivered the compass to Bonham's in new york. The scientific auction is in December. I'll send a link when I get one.

Well - start price was actually 8000 I think, bidding went up to 10,000 but I had the minimum at 11! So I still have it. May put it in a Spring auction. This down stock market makes everyone scared!

So sorry it didn't meet your minimum, 7539. It's such a cool item. Here's hoping it will soar in the next auction!

Oh well, you get to enjoy it a little longer. It may give you time to decide if you would want to sell in this market now that you have an idea what the price might be.

The house I dealt with, mostly, in selling a large collection always had a post-auction “offers” period for passed items. I sold several items that way. They relay offers to the owner who decides to accept them or not.

I tried for post-auction but couldn't get it done. Christie's has an Americana auction in June so I think I'm going for that.

Anyone who is interested in how this turned out, Christie's couldn't get to my reserve price either. Finally sold today after a year and a half for $13,000! Jeffery S Evan's auction house sold it and I highly recommend...
