    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I am a little familiar with her. She was most famous for her bugs. I bet that a bug during her lifetime would bring several key or more. I never saw a bird by her but it's great.
Oh wait, I just recognized it as one I misplaced. It's mine. Please send!

Oh mannnnnnnnn, there are some great stories here... like reading fairytales!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Ha! the one I posted is actually a different print probably taken from that the same engraving plate. I have mine framed behind glass and it's hard to get a clear photo of it. So I swiped one from the Internet that is somewhat different in color.

No, she didn't do many birds. This particular one was included in her early book called Neues Blumenbuch. This was made before she really started publishing about the life cycles of insects. The pictures from this book were intended to be used as embroidery patterns. According to this page from the Linda Hall Library it was "published and marketed in three volumes of 12 drawings each." http://womenswork.lindahall.org/merian1.shtml

And the one that I have was published later than her lifetime, by publisher unknown. However, I believe they had access to the original plates.

benbenny007 I buy rubbish, and sell antiques

What do you mean with a 3d image? What are your plans after you get the paperwork together?

  5. lloyd249

    lloyd249 it's not hoarding if it's valuable

hard to explain my theory without seeing it , but here goes (i know it sounds crazy but i am sane lol) . The picture is wrapped around the chair 1/3 rd of the painting is on the front of the chair ,1/3 rd is on the back ,and 1/3 the the sides and bottom , in order to see the whole picture i suspect it has to spin until the name appears to stand still (like adjusting the speed strobe on a record player) and then when you walk around it the picture will follow you . i thought there was only 1 way to spin it , but no there is several possible ways lol .
i plan to find out the provenance (if i can ) because the more that's know about it, the more the value of it .
i have plans to sell it at auction to the highest bidder .
but there is alternatives to selling i might look into .

Bought a set of 72 nice looking 1967 leaf star trek cards for about $400. Sent the cards off to psa dna to get graded. Once returned, I listed the two best cards which sold for $3750 and $1750 within an hour of listing. I then proceeded to list 10 more plus the wax wrapper for another $3000. Three years later, I still have 60 cards waiting for the right moment....

I watched an original episode last night.
The cheesy ric-rac on Kirk's sleeves was totally wrecked!
I know the budget was nil but that?
    At what...10cents a yard then?

OTOH find that same shirt now someplace, gathering dust, and sell it as a "game worn" shirt for $$$$$. Don't I wish!
