Some information on the artist Marjorie Sharpe

"Marjorie's natural talents (painting and music) were carefully tutored from her earliest years by her famed artist mother, Marian Barnett (1913-1978); at the age of 11 she was advanced enough to study at the San Diego Fine Arts Gallery. Concurrently, she was becoming an accomplished pianist.

Later, attending La Jolla High School, the University of Washington and Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo), Marjorie won various awards, a scholarship in painting and obtained a California State Teacher's Credential for both art and music. Travel in Europe and two years with the Army Special Services in Northern Bavaria helped to polish her art techniques and understanding to a fine point.

She studied with such internationally-known artists as Leon Franks and Bennett Bradbury..." according to the now-closed Pomeroy Art Gallery in Cypress, California.

Not as far as i know. the people i bought it from had kept it covered and stored thinking they were going to get it framed and just never did.

Lovely painting. Do you know approximately when it was painted? If her mother was born in 1913, I'm guessing that she was born in the 1930s-1940s. Do you know anything about her?

I recently bought a flower painting done in the 1930s, and some information about the artist is available online. Maybe I'll post a picture of it somewhere on this site.

I believe it was painted in the mid 1980's. There isn't a lot of information about her that i have found. just what i have posted here so far. i am interested to find out more though. as far as the frame goes i just haven't for no real reason at all. it would be a extremely costly venture though.

I may know her! Or least know I know of her. I was on the board of directors at the San Diego Art Institute.

    Framing is very expensive!
