If I don’t figure out what this furniture is for I’m going to go crazy!

Each of the “pull out furniture” is exactly the same so I only took pictures of 1. The height when the legs are extended is what throws me off because I can’t figure out if they are a table, chair, etc. because they only come to my knee. They are very heavy.
591117, A/12, & 1/19/65 are the only identifying things on the furniture itself.

On the hinge, it says U.S. Pat 2,271,332.

The dimensions of the furniture itself are:
    27 in L
    19 in W
    25 1/2 in H

The dimensions on the pull out furniture without legs open are:
    21 in L
    15 1/2 in W
    3 in h

The dimensions of the pull out furniture with it’s legs extended are:

11 5/8 in L (from outside of leg to outside of leg)
    16 1/8 in H

So there should be 4 pull out trays and one is missing?

The patent dates to 1942 and applies to folding or stowable tables. I expect yours were manufactured in 1965 and are a more substantial version of the tv trays used during the era.

Yep. A set of 4 for the nuclear family. Or 1 couple entertaining another.

Every home in those years had sets of trays. Usually something like this. Of course, these were meant to be dined on. Given the height of yours, more likely used as portable coffee tables.

Does any one of the 3 you have fit in that "shelf space?"

No, there is only room & shelves fit for exactly 3.

Is the torn red label from a maker?

I see a red sticker and a cream colored one. Do they have any printing? If so, please post a close-up. Other than that, don't know how you'd be able to identify maker. The patent number was registered to the inventor. And the codes internal. So you're saying can only hold three tables? And the space below a finished shelf?

    I don’t think so.

No those are the only marking/identifying marks on the whole thing. & those marks are only on the one table. & yes, the space below is just a finished shelf.

Unless there is anything else somewhere (maybe stamped) not really much other way to find out.

    Think it holds any value?

They're designed to be end tables so likely would have been sold as pairs. Here's one in Louis XV (sic) style.

Looks to be pine and am board with a late 60s-70s date. Value is in functionality since not antique.
