No feelings hurt here either. I was actually agreeing with you before, but maybe I could have done a better job expressing it. I'll think about my phrasing next time.

    Agreed!

Etsy is great, because they rotate the items on their search pages. So if your oil lamp is on page 4 one day, it could be on page 1 the next.

By the way, your Buddha is a Boddhisattva. I missed the extra arms this morning (central European time), too early;).

And his father before him. I remember him well, but you would have to dive deep into the archives of early ARs to see him.

First let me officially welcome Asian Fever to our forum & also to apologize to them for hijacking their thread.:happy::happy:

Your items are very nice, but they are so far out of my knowledge base it can not even be measured. ;):p:D

It was just that this was not the first time I had seen different members at different times almost bemoaning the fact that people were coming here asking sometimes not just ID help but help in pricing.

In defense of these folks I think most only know TV shows like AR or, at the other end of the spectrum, Storage Wars. On both of these shows prices are given out very freely, some more accurate in the real world than others.:happy: I am sure that some folks who come here think that just because we hang out on a site dealing with antiques, we all know, or we have specific members who know, everything there is to know about certain items.

I also see members almost complaining that these people show up to ask a question & after they get their replies we never see them again. My reply to them is so what did you think was going to happen. I thought that is what this site was all about. We have the core group of refugees from the ebay boards. Then we have some folks who found us then decided we weren't a bad group of crazies & decided to stay around for a while. Then on the outside fringe are the folks who just want an answer to their questions & do not have the time or the inclination to stay around.

To me this is just fine. Would you really want to hang out on a site where there were 3,000+ folks talking all at the same time?:eek: I know I would not be interested in that site even though I grew up in a very large family where when we all got together at our parent's house there would be multiple conversations happening all around you. To an outsider this could be total sensory overload, but to us it was just a normal Sunday & we could keep up with all the different topics. :p:D Even now I find myself skipping quite a few topics even in the categories I am interested in because I have a limited amount of time to spend hanging out.

It is all of the above or maybe I am just very crabby right now. ;):p:p:p:D

    I like this comment.
Actually, I am not showing off collections and I just want to get rid of them. What's more can we expect when we get something for free?

I once had someone on this forum contact me with a question through the conversation option because I was the only regular member online at the time. He probably thought I was the expert of the day. Sadly for that person, I knew absolutely nothing about the item. I told him to start a thread, etc., which he did. He got his answer from someone else later on.

Except persons such as Leonardo da Vinci, there's almost no one could be the expert in many areas.

If there is someone who is closest to "Knowing everything" about a particular subject I would say it is you Any Jewelry!:D

Thank you Joshua, but that is really too much credit. There are people on this forum who know extremely much about several subjects. I just know a little about a lot of subjects, and some more about some other subjects, so I stick my nose in everywhere:D.

If I got the Sukunda lamp for free, I'd jump for joy and keep it:D.

Speaking as a diehard USC Gamecock fan, do the world a favor & toss that bottle with that hideous orange tiger paw into the recycle bin. ;):p:rolleyes::D:D:D

Well, if you prefer vintage coke to the oil lamp, I could propose a swap:greedy::hilarious:.

My wife would love for me to sell something but I am thinking a larger house before I start liquidating my prized collectibles!

See the porch behind me? That holds some of my 'stuff'. So does the attic, the garage and at least one room. Plus the china cabinets, etc. ;)

I'd love to follow the sale of the second item, so let us know when and where you list it.
