I purchased two night stands that are definitely a pair. They have the lane marking on the bottom but I have been unable to find anything comparable to them. If anyone could give me an idea of their value I would greatly appreciate it. They are in great shape

    Hi Nola!

    Welcome to Antiquers..........:cat:

I think you need more pictures.........

Do they have a drawer? Is their a cabinet at the base?

I'm wondering if they could be end tables.

    Tagging.............

@verybrad @Ghopper1924 (and I think another member too that could help, but can't remember ID.....sorry..........

    Hi and welcome!

I like Lane furniture and grew up with some at home. I found a few examples that sold and if you have a Worthpoint account you can view the prices. Sorry but I don't have an account so can't tell.

I also found what they say is how to read the serial number to date the piece. They say that if you read it backward it is the date and if there is an extra digit it is the plant number. Not sure if it's true. I can't make out the last digit on your serial number but I think if the dating trick is true it would make yours from 1976.

Hey Greg! Have big mug of it right now and hoping it will kick in.:D Do you know if the serial number actually works as a date? Seems a bit odd to me, why wouldn't you just date it?

    Hi,
It was done for many years at Lane and until Lane became really popular in the 1960s the "secret" came out. I have a birds eye maple dresser that had several stamps on the back of a drawer that showed the date it was made, when it was finished and where it was sent to. I never saw the dates until I had to remove the the drawer to rescue a paper that slipped behind the drawer. Now I always check.

I currently have an Acclaim end table I use that I found in a thrift and had to refinish a bit. Love it! I had a few more Acclaim tables I sold at a flea market a few years ago and wish I'd at least kept the coffee table.

I did find an example Nolabroad's end table that sold in 2016 but of course prices will vary depending on location, their condition and how they're sold. This single one sold for $30.

Last one of these I had, picked up at auction for $3.00 in good condition. Struggled to sell for $30.00. Eventually did sell at a discount from that price. Think it is an end table rather than night stand.

Two end tables like these at auction in my part of the U.S. Midwest would sadly only go for about $20-$30 together.
