Just purchased a tall 5 drawer dresser. I believe it is an old piece. I noticed what looks like a trademark inside one of the drawers. Its a little worn but looks like it says Michigan Furniture Company. The decal resembles the Michigan State Flag with the elk and Moose. While researching, I can't seem to find much information on this. Seems to always pull up west Michigan furniture company. Anyone have any information on this where I can hopefully find the age of this piece?
    Thanks in advance,

Thanks Joshua! That's good information. I guess it is a Michigan Furniture Company piece. Curious why there isn't much information about this company out there. I love finding new pieces and trying to research the history. Just frustrating when you can't get a solid lead :banghead:

I'm not sure if I'm understanding the article correctly but I belive it said the Michigan Furniture Company only operated under that name 1866-1868.:)

It looks like it was established in 1866, being conducted for several years by different companies. It became Keck Furniture Company in 1879 and in 1884 the Michigan Furniture Company. So this narrows it down to the timeline. Now if I can find when the company closed down. Thanks for the help Joshua. Greatly appreciated  May need to send you the fainting chair curb find I found. I believe its a Victorian Eastlake.

Its not eastlake, more like a turn of the century generic dresser. Its nice, but not rare or particularly valuable.

Turn of the century serpentine front Victorian chest. The newspaper article posted above shows a picture of the factory from 1896. This approximates the date of your chest, though it might even be a decade or so later. There were hundreds of furniture companies making similar things at this time. You actually know more than most about your maker.
