Speaking of thrifts ,has anyone else noticed they've lost their minds on prices ??? Hoodwill is the worst offender ! Even my beloved Catholic Charities has gotten absurd ! I went to an estate sale and it was cheaper than the thrifts, now I ask you !

The one I was in today hasn't jacked things up; they were always high on some stuff anyway. OTOH the Ill Will is living down to its nickname.

    anyone good on their watches

this is the one i found the other day that got fumbled and smashed

noticed the subdial is missing as well (dont know if it happened during the fall)

i tried to get rid of all the glass as there were fragments inside affecting the movement

but there is still glass remnants on edge that are stuck

you reckon worth getting repaired or best to get rid as it is

    movement is working fine

Scooped off the sidewalk today. Was a lamp, but I've peeled away the white metal top and the wires to return it to its original vase glory. IMG_20200620_203743.jpg IMG_20200620_203804.jpg Not antiques obviously but my first porcelain piece w a reign mark, so I'll take it..

Went to an estate auction and antique mall today. Prices were very strong at the auction; saw some nice stuff (McCoy cookie jar/cast iron bank/Pyrex bowl set) but it all realized a pretty penny. I did get two McCoy pieces however.

The antique mall was dead. This particular mall has been struggling greatly in recent years and needs to take "antiques" out of the name. Each time there is more empty spaces and display cabinets which the owner tries to hide by putting their own junk in there. They sell the most hideous imported artwork too.

Love the little Mexican guy, and the 'shady lady' as well!

The bracelet looks to me like modern Japanese glass Delica-type beads - are you sure they're metal?

It can be whatever you want, except a fob. I think it's pretty new and was always a bracelet. If it were a fob the peppers/strawberries would be turned 90 degrees.

I think thrift stores are a dying breed with the era of ultra cheap disposable clothing. That was a big part of their business and now their pricing makes it almost cheaper to buy new at a clothing store like Kohls or TJMaxx. Here in Ohio the majority of items with any potential never make it to the thrift store and are instead sold on shopgoodwill or other online venues. That decision leaves the physical storefront thrifts with all of the unsellable junk that nobody wants. I still go thrifting but am only really looking for dvds and books that I personally want to watch or read. Thrifting for antique collectors or pickers is dead and fruitless.

Here’s an old find from a rummage/jumble that I paid pennies for. Just over 16inches long. Thought it was glass and put it to the side but yesterday I checked and found no bubbles and tested it on the diamond tester and it’s up near to 7 so it’s rock crystal/quartz. Think it’s silver but not marked.

@Hollyblue, Do you think it more likely to be Quartz because of the likely silver setting and style of setting and there are no bubbles?
