Not quite sure what this is, when made and techniques used? Purchased at a yard sale. It is on a sheet of 3 ply plywood. It looks like it is all hand carved and then stained. Unfortunately, there is some damage in upper left hand corner. Would love to know more about it. Purchased in N.H. I looked up the poem. It was published in the Junior Munsey Vol. 10, 1901. It is excerpts from An inspiration for a den by Frank Roe Batchelder.

Deb, people will want to see pics of the sides and back, especially if it is tramp art, which has layering (as far as I know).

Not tramp art. Pyrography with added color and dates to circa 1910.

It looks like there are initials in the lower right corner....at the end of the verse....can you, @Deb Tosoni, see what they might be??

Thanks for the photos, Deb. That isn't really the layering I meant.

Tramp art has this kind of layering:

And I see from your posted close-ups, those aren’t initials.... just smudges.....too bad......but thanks for posting!!!
