Any chance for a few more photos in better light? A few good in focus close-ups of the birds, whatever mother of pearl sections, the back, and other features in good light rather than a flash. Maybe take a few photos outside or near a window if possible. I'm having trouble getting a sense if this is just a newer decorator piece or something a bit more interesting.

Is it stamped metal on wood?

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a few more pics in better light. It's not a flash but a reflection of the light that was on in the room. It's definitely old, rather than recent. When purchased ( from an antiques sale) it was totally black and my father in law cleaned it to reveal the image. It's separate parts are nailed, with small pins, into a large wooden plaque. Some of it is painted with what looks like enamel. There is nothing on the back but it is very heavy. We thought it was from round 1910. The birds seem brass and the seed pods copper, with the rest two other metal types. There are separate pins attaching all of the separate parts to the board underneath.

Looks like repousse on some type of sheet metal tacked onto a piece of plywood.

So the birds, flowers, etc are all attached separately? That definitely sounds more interesting.

Even though there is nothing on the back, I think it might be helpful to see it.

Since you will be adding photos, would also be nice to see in focus close-ups of a few of the individual pieces as well as how they are attached.

It is definitely an interesting piece with all those different sections of metal attached. Can see why you like it. And your father-in-law did a beautiful job cleaning it.

I have not seen similar, maybe others will chime in. I do think it is a very nice piece of art, dating... no idea. Seems vintage at a minimum. Would have that in my home in a heartbeat. Really has a great look.

It looks like it could be Japanese, what a stunning piece! Ive seen small stuff that sort of looked like this, but never anything so large. I wonder what those seed pods are? Maybe that could help pin down where it was made.

Doubt it is Japanese, they wouldn't use "rivets" to add other colored metal, they would use zogan inlay.

Thank you. We thought it was probably a nice piece that someone did as a hobby.
