    Back then, photos were often developed and printed on postcard ready paper.
    This is a photo of Serbian comander with his officers at their position on the eastern (thessaloniki) front in 1917:

    This Shelley crested souvenir is modeled on an archaic Greek vase unearthed when the British were digging their trenches at Salonika. They used so much barbed wire, the fortification was nicknamed 'the bird cage'.
