    Hi everyone,

I have inherited an old Kittinger bed and I'm having a hard time finding any info about it to identify the age or value of it. It has a sticker on the headboard and footboard that both say "Kittinger Distinctive Furniture Buffalo 1866" and another sticker that says "Pattern A845" and "Serial 14"

I brought it out on my back deck to get a couple of pictures in the daylight and have added them below. It has a few dings and scuffs, but is in overall sturdy condition.

Anybody have any idea on an age or value of this piece? Thank you so much for your help!

Have you considered contact Kittinger about the age (which can be determined by the pattern and serial numbers, I gather from Dr. Google)? They're still in business, located in New York state and have a website.

Once you get the info about age, etc. you'd be able to see whether there seems to be a market for it and what might be your best avenue for sale.

I started to search on the Kittinger site, but found this page: http://www.kittingerfurniture.com/worth.html which says that they refuse to give any ideas of value. It also says that they have no way to tell the date of a piece that does not have an engraved invoice number on the brass plate. They started engraving invoice numbers on the brass plate more recently to be able to determine the date it was manufactured.

I didn't think they would give value, but some idea of when a particular line was in production (a range of course) I would have thought they might be able to determine.

Another possible indicator might be the "Authentique" part of the plate. Sounds kind of 30's to 50's to me.

I'll do some digging to see if I can find out what plates they used during which time periods :) Thanks for the tip!

I'm going to guess late 40s to circa 1952. It looks like the sort of thing companies did either just before WWII or right afterward. OTOH, better ask Brad who will doubtless recognize the style.

I think 40s-50s. While Kittinger is good quality furniture, I doubt this is too valuable. It really is not that much different than other pieces made about this time by countless other companies.

Thanks for the help everyone! It's nice to have an idea of age :) Usually I can find these things out on google, but was having trouble with this piece. Hope you all have a fantastic day!
