Can I get some thoughts on this panel painting please?

This does not appear to be signed. But, it has an old 1900-1920s Paris Artist's Supply label and has a hand written notation "Venice" in script on the back. I've shown this to a few people, including a friend who works at an auction house. She suggested I do more research and contact some experts at museums. However, since it's not signed, what's the point? I think the feeling by some was that it had a very "Monet-style" type look to it....if the painting was done by a known artist, the small size clearly indicates a study. Then I thought this might be a street vendor look to it and was painted for a tourist in Venice, but then the Paris supply label would seem out of place, perhaps. My question is, is this
    a) amateur work
    b)street vendor work
    c) a study by a known artist?
I'm not sure whether to sell it or research it further.
    Thanks for any honest input.

Personally I think this needs an eyes on inspection by an expert. Pictures are limiting and there are indeed expert copiers out there. Love the piece, enjoy it. If it is valuable enjoy the money.

Charming. To my eye it does look to be a quick outdoor study. If it were a souvenir painting, it would feature a more -- shall we say -- clichéd view of Venice. This is a much more personal prospect.

Sure you've done some research on R. Charbo. in 1908 he was at 74, Boulevard Montparnasse; by 1916 he had relocated to number 96 which gives you a rough window.

Thanks to both of you for your comments. I appreciate it. The thing is I just don't know how far to go with my research. If a fair number of people hadn't told me not to sell this I probably would have by now. If anyone has a museum curator's name/contact info that would be appropriate to this piece, please let me know. Thanks.

Got it, thank you! Bev, do you have any thoughts on this piece? I'm a seller so am conditioned to sell, I guess, but don't want to sell something potentially valuable. In a bit of a quandry at the moment. I just can't tell what I should do with it.
