Any thoughts on who might have made my glass penguin?

I posted my penguin in the finds thread a while back, now I have taken some better pics and am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on where she might have been made. The closest glass/crystal penguins I can find googling around for a bit are made by Steuben - but mine isn't signed (that I can find) - and isn't a match for the Steuben designs that I've found online. Mine is 17" high and weighs almost 7 pounds. A big fella Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Yep - lifesize for some penguin species! I haven't been able to find any this big searching online.

 

Maybe it's an Emperor Penguin.

 

I would doubt it - Emperor Penguins are HUGE!!this was just an artistic glass blowing expression!! Notice the pontil mark on the bottom - could be very recent!! And in a gift shop!!

 

Hi Rayo - just a note - the bottom is completely smooth and polished - what appears to be a pontil mark in the pic (perhaps it is) is not really visible to the naked eye - nor can you feel it when running your fingers over it. It only shows up on the camera at certain angles - I believe it's internal striations in the glass.

 

This thread is oooooooooold but, I may have found the maker on this one - sort of.

I found an old shopgoodwill listing for a similar penguin (not as tall as mine - 13" vs 17") with a sticker still on it "Royal Gallery" "made in italy" for Macy's. The dead listing no longer has the photos but they live on in Google image search.
