    I wented to a car booty!

    Much fine stuff, including this which I probably paid too much for. Silver, unmarked. I can't decide if it's a Brit or what.

    I also got a nine carat gold locket for two quid.

    Is British silver ever unmarked or less than sterling? Does middle band slide? Doesn't really look Middle Eastern to me, but WDIK? Must be handsome on the wrist.

    Older British silver can often be unmarked, and I suspec this is Victorian or so. I can't decide if there ought to be more than one band - it does move slightly.

    I think it had two bands. See the discoloration? and it is fairly evenly spaced.

    Nice bracelet even with only one band.

    Could be. However I'm not sure the clasp points that way. Have to wait for someone more knowledgeable than me.

    It's that discolouration that made me wonder if one or more bands had gone. The strands are very like some Turkish pieces I have, BUT those usually have pin clasps. This is also heavier.

    What bothers you about it? I have seen box clasps like this on better Egyptian silver jewellery, so not surprised if Turks also use it. What sort of clasp would you expect? My first impression of the bracelet was that it was not quite Mid East, which is how I think of Turkey.

    Yay! And yes, it is Turkish. Missing a band, as cluttered said. I always love these, band or no band.;)
    Turkish bracelets of this style can have either pin clasps or box clasps. I don't know when some makers began to use box clasps, but it could have something to do with increasing demand from tourists.

    @Bronwen
    I'm not familiar with Eastern jewelry before the 1960s. Am not aware of what kind of clasps would have been used.

    Thanks aj. It's nice quality, and weighs about 60 grammes - my other ones are lighter. It feels ofder, but who knows.

    It's really pretty! I wonder if you could move the band to the center.

    Off track, @Any Jewelry I don't think I've mentioned how much I like your avatar. It's beautiful!

    I thought that too. Sometimes they're impossible to move, but it is always worth giving it a try.

    It is. With a bracelet you don't even notice if it isn't symmetrical, it is always going to be on the other side of the wrist anyway.:)
