    Hello,

Can anybody help me with these two wooden pieces? I Found them in my grandmother basement. It is written 1872 on the face of one piece. Looks like church furniture to me.

    Hello,

She is from Slovenia (near Austrian border), so it is quite possible these two cabinets were made in Austria / Germany.

Thx for the tip about the pictures.

In that case I think they could well be Slovenian. They also make this style of flower painted furniture in northern Italy, which borders on Slovenia.
    I like them very much.

Not really, many holidays in that general area, plus a mother who loved folk furniture, especially painted:D.

These probably fit into the corners of a dining room or keeping room in a less formal house. Probably fairly common over there but better as a pair. Would be rare and valuable if American.

From the photos, I assume that they stack and create a single tall cupboard, correct?

Doubt so. One is a corner piece while the other is rectangular. I didn't look closely enough either. I assumed they were both corner cupboards. The corner cupboard would have wall mounted. It looks like the other is freestanding. Probably used in the same room but not necessarily together.
