I have this spoon set with a box, not sure if it's original but it says Istanbul on it. The spoons are all marked 80 with is the only marking I see, assuming that means 80% silver? IMG_3380.JPG

The rest of the photos are to large to upload.

Welcome, Brian. Normally the 80% silver mark is 800. not 80, but seeing the marks may clarify.

As for picture size, the weight limit is 1MB, so resizing to, say, 480 x 640 pixels should be sufficient.

Having trouble uploading it but it clearly says 80, thanks.

I'll try again in a bit.

Could be plated - some Dutch and German is marked as 80.

Marked in the bowl of a spoon (or near the tines of a fork) usually sends me to French, for a starting point. And yes, if that's the only marking on each, that does usually mean plated and European.

Turkish, now I've done a close up on the box.

I do believe it is Turkish, by the weight (not very heavy ) I would assume it is just plated. Is the set complete and original?

    Thanks
    Brian

Morning, Owned! Brian did say right up front that the box said Istanbul. But the container and the contents don't always start life together. ;) Could be the retailer, too.

What do you mean by "serial," Brian?

D'uh, missed that. I think it's the retailer, I've a vague recollection of the name. Those boxed sets are widely sold there as tea or coffee spoons so I don't see why it wouldn't be right.

Bakersgma, sorry I edited my post. I meant to say "set". Thanks for all the replies.
