Hi everyone! Long time no see! Real life has kept me away from posting and reading the Boards. I was wondering if someone can help me with these unusual bright orange beads.
I purchased these at an Estate sale on the North shore of Long Island because I thought the color and look of the beads was interesting.
They look like they can be a natural material, but, I'm not sure.
The string that they are strung on seems old and the beads are cold and quite heavy.
    Any thoughts? Thanks everyone! [IMG]

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Hi, Tonettedogs -- good to see you. I don't know the answer, but hope that somebody will come along who does.

Could you get a close-up of a couple of the beads? The color looks dyed.

Thank You Fig..good to see you too! I'm adding some close ups with the hope they look familiar to someone.
At first I thought they were glass beads. Upon closer inspection you can see inclusions and variations in color, which makes me think they might be a natural material.

I didn't think of bone. Would bone be very heavy?

You'll have to wait for someone more experienced than me.

    Hi,

They look like Prosser/Kakamba glass trade beads.

They're a different shape than the ones I've seen, but I think Anund nailed it.
