Featured Federal Sheraton Chest, is it a period piece?

I recently purchased this chest in P.A. It is cherry wood with exceptional construction, very heavy. I know it is Sheraton style, not sure if it is a Federal period piece. Any thoughts? Thanks

 

Well, it is late Classical in style rather than Sheraton and, more likely mid 19th century,1840s-1850s than the Federal period (1790-1830).
The panel construction is typical of mid 19th century American builds, if it was in the federal era, those sides would more likely be solid board construction.
So to answer your question, yes, it's a period Classical dresser, mid 19th century.

No problem, in drawer photos the secondary wood appears to be tulip poplar so I am guessing this was manufactured in Cincinnati. I would note that drawer boxes continued to be largely hand-made until 1900 as it took that long to develop machines to do that work.

LOVELY!!!! I have a bit of a thing for wonderful American made case pieces! The condition is very fine and I really love the scroll carved backsplash/backboard.

 

Here are a couple of Sheraton dressers, 1 country, 1 city, built in the Federal period. They are kinda, sorta similar to your dresser but also very different.
This was the end of the line for entirely hand-made furniture in America, steam power & railroads meant even rural cabinetmakers could not compete with furniture factories.
There was no escape, you either converted to steam power or found another trade.
