My uncles old wicker chest

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this chest my uncle passed away and it was given to me and I

 

I can't tell you what it was in your place; my granny used them for stowing away linen and for transporting freshly washed clothes, fabric, linen etc. because it let enough air in so the rest of eventual humidity could evade.

 

Could you tell us what this says and give some idea of size?

It is on very top of chest in the middle between 2 tacks

 

It is probably 1-1/2 in

Very nice. Made of peeled willow. High end, with leather and metal reinforcement. Presumably French made, with the "Ideal Trunk" (Malle Ideale) label.

What say_it_slowly was asking for was the size of the entire basket, not the size of the label.

It’s a large trunk size like the size of a coffee table
