Trying to determine composition / age /origin of this sculpture

Picked this up at a second hand store. Gilt but a lot of the gilt covered with gunk or flaked off. Not sure what's under the gilt - don't know if it's gesso on wood. It's light...could be pine I suppose. When I tap on it it's kind a dull thud - not really metallic but I suppose it could be spelter? Having a hard time determining what it's made of. There is a small chip on her hair on the left side...which when i look at it under magnification looks like tiny whitish quartz like granules. She's about 20" tall - and has two holes in her back - the purpose of which befuddles me.

Holes for the (missing) wings - she do be a lil' angel!

though the position of her hands leaves something to imagine...........makes me wonder if something else is missing..........

One look at that face, and I knew. The only children that look that sickeningly sweet and innocent are angels and brats who have just taken an ax to mum & dad while they slept....................

 

Probably resin since this is a modern figure.

 

Methinks her hands are shaped to hold a bunch of...lilies.

 

I'll go with that! Phytology, not physiology............
