Vintage Jaques-London Croquet Mallet

Hi:

I have a vintage croquet mallet that I am looking for information on, but can't seem to find any.

It's 34 inches long.
One side of the mallet head states 'Jaques-London'.
The other side states 'Made in England'.
Brass fittings on the end.
It's heavy.


Any help is appreciated.

I haven't seen a croquet mallet in decades...............when we donated the house to the historical society they requested all of the croquet mallets because we had a permanent "pall mall" court in the side garden - it had been there for over a century...........

 

Complete croquet sets turn up from time to time in British auctions. A complete 1930s Jaques set (mallets, balls, pegs and hoops, boxed0 might fetch £80 to £100. I have never seen a single mallet offered, and I doubt if an orphan mallet would fetch much.

You'd probably find more examples looking for sold complete sets.

I'm really curious if I could get an approximate date of use with this type of mallet.

 

Made in England makes it 20th C. A reasonable guess would be 1920s or 30s.

 

Their prices for new look pretty stiff!!! Why not contact them and see what they think of yours???? I mean, who knows!!!!!
