My guess is Empire, circa 1850's maybe. Possibly a childs dresser considering those measurements. It is adorable.

    I think a sales miniature/makers example.

Everybody thinks that about smaller furniture, but it was very common to make miniature version of furniture for children,or their dolls. Joel Barret on antiques roadshow cleared that up for me.Just my humble opinion.

Gotcha. Was thinking it was kinda big for a dollhouse, never thought about playing dolls with just funiture. That was probably the norm since doll houses take up a lot of space and cost money.:vulcan: It is logical.

I think 1840s-1860s is about right

Mahogany veneer. Looks like it has been stripped off on the side. Might even be a bit earlier than 1850. The columns on front are more similar to Federal period than Empire but that may be a function of the small size as opposed to being true to form. The rest is pure Empire.

It actually looks like finished maple in the sides, thinking it might actually be a salesman's display showing different woods. Been researching, it looks like an early empire transitional... maybe from Philadelphia c1815? The one piece columns on front And the backsplash seem like Sheraton holdovers (as you said, I think) or maybe options offered to customers on different pieces, like a sideboards or hihgboys.

    Why use a small word.....
When a diminutive one will do.

Not sure what it is but it is not maple. No salesman's sample would utilize different woods like this. They would make it as true to what a large piece would look like. I really think this is missing the veneer or was once stained to match. In fact, it looks like there may still be a narrow piece of the veneer along the right side. What does the other side look like?

Secondary might be birch. Very popular during the Empire years.

Here is right side. I would expect to see a line in the finish if there had been a veneer there.
