Hello again - here is another mystery item I bought at a local yard sale. It is a strange piece with no identifying marks. It measures 3.5" long by 2" wide. It appears to be made of wood covered with black lacquer. It is a lovely smooth shape and feels like a quality piece. One side is stamped "Patd" for patented, but nothing more. I have no idea what it is and have never seen another like it.
Any help identifying its purpose or how old it is would be greatly appreciated.
    Clare

I was going to say a leather working tool but being made of wood you won't be able to cut anything with it.

By the materials, I would guess some sort of darning tool

Hello - a possibility but I think the handle may be too short for it to be used for this. Clare
