    Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anybody could help ID or date this dining chair. It has no markings on it that I can see and seems to have been reupholstered quite well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Item location is Melbourne Australia.

Thank-you very much for your time.

I know nothing about the Australian furniture making history but assume it parallels the English to some extent..... or was most furniture imported? This looks like a typical English Walnut (though it may be some other Australian wood) Victorian chair circa 1880. The crest appears to have stylized griffins. The yellow vinyl would have to go.

yeah tell signs are the turned legs therefore you can date it to the late 19th century. Looks provincial to me

Thanks guys. I know an exact year would be next to impossible....I was interested to know if it was 19th or 20th century. Happy to hear that it is likely 19th. I know its not worth a great deal...but I picked it up for $15AUD at the market because I liked it. Thanks again.
