    Actually, the base more often than not does give us clues.
    It appears to be marble or onyx, however sometimes there are indications that we are mistaken and it could be resin.

    Yes, she is, well spotted! I thought I only saw bangles, must be that bling gene again.:playful: Early Sumerians weren't depicted with long sleeves, Assyrians were occasionally.
    I'd have to check if Neo-Sumerians were ever depicted with long sleeves. Given the style of her face, she would have to be late anyway. If Sumerian at all. Still a big if.

    It could be (an early replica of) a Sumerian foundation figure, which were put in the foundations of buildings. Maybe neighbouring Middle Eastern cultures used them too. These are made of a copper alloy, but they also made them in stone:

    Are the top dark section and the bottom light section separate pieces joined together or is it all one piece with the top part coated/painted?

    Also, can we see a photo of the underside of the object?
