I'm located in Australia and found these while cleaning out my grandfathers home of over 75 years.

The have a stainless steel top, a draw and door as seen. There are also small vents in the back (sorry, forgot to take a photo).

I am thinking something medical, but I really don't know.

    Welcome!
They may or may not be medical. Could simply be 50s kitchen cabinets.

If it is too large make it 480x640.

It might also be a "dental" cabinet for use in a dentist's office.

It could be a place to store dental trays made up with appropriate dental instruments for patients' various dental procedures scheduled that day.

It could also be a place to store dental instruments to "cool off" after they had been sterilized in an autoclave (because of holes/vents in the back of the cabinet).

Or it could be a cabinet for certain dental instruments which are "cold sterilized" in various solutions.

You don't give a size, but it appears to be a standard kitchen unit circa 1930s-1950s

As I said too Mansons and mainly because they just look the part and that any medical cabinet would surely have a much better, baked on, finish. Green and white seemed to be the most prevalent as well.
It also shouldn't have what is almost certainly a blue linoleum top even though the OP states stainless steel.
The trim is probably stainless as if they were aluminum, would surely be dented given the condition of these cabinets.
    Seems most had legs too.

Well, don't know about your cabinet, but HI and, Richo!!! Hope I haven't already done that, what with SO many new members lately (which is absolutely terrific)!!!!!

You mention stainless steel top but I see what looks like blue plastic laminate (Formica or similar) to me. I also think Kitchen. Most medical cabinets had better latching systems and/or locks. Also wonder about the lack of legs or a pedestal base
