Cloisonne Covered Bowl

Any idea how old this bowl is? Stands 3 3/4" tall, 4 1/4" across the top. No marks.

I just think it's two separate bowls, the covered part (rice bowl) doesn't look very secure on there. It's a lovely color and I enjoy cloisonne, although never eaten on it.

 

Anti, Same pattern. I don't see any other purpose than a lid. Most lids just sit on top of the bowl.

 

Maybe so and no doubt they are very pretty and they do match, but there is nothing to secure the rice bowl as a lid. To me, it just looks like a rice bowl turned upside down onto an urn from the same set. I hope someone else will be able to identify the larger piece for its utilitarian purpose.

 

@kraftblue - In close inspection, the same colors of enamel were used, but these are not the same pattern.

 

Anti, I looked at both pieces, they do have the same flowers.

Yes, it is a set. A tea bowl with cover, the way the use it in parts of Asia.
You pour some tea on the lid/saucer to cool it before drinking. And when you're not drinking, the cover keeps in the warmth and keeps out the bugs.
