Say hello to my little friend.

Hello all, I am so happy with this purchase. It has been relatively easy to find information on micromosaics. But I truly love this one particularly. 8X10 including frame. Guessing early 20th

    Studio del Mosaico

Although they have made this particular image throughout time, I am wondering if the No.4427A can be located to a particular date in any records. I can not even find an email for them.

Please enjoy the pictures, I am (second photo was as I was driving home, could not wait to see how it photographed)

No, didn't find this at a vacuum shop(inside joke).

they don't sell it as micromosaics.
if I remember right, in times gone the masons of the Vatican were allowed to make these out of the rests of the marble to improve their more than meagre wages; since the tourism kicked in they are managed by the Vatican adminitration to earn the most possible "ad maiorem dei gloriam".
you see similar in high-price deco shops in Rome.

Agree! My comment was only to point the title and description written by mmarco102, which will appear to other searchers for "micromosaic" on Google, showing the image of a mosaic not so micro sized:joyful:

    It is lovely mmarco.:)
The mosaics inside St Peter's Basilica are stunning. Every time you think you see a painting, it turns out to be mosaic.
The mosaic restorer's workshops do indeed sell mosaics, made with the same techniques as in St Peter's. Only much smaller, compared to the giant mosaics of the basilica.
:hilarious: I thought that was where you found all your goodies.:playful:

Good morning everyone, thank you for your comments.

@Fid’s (thank you) second link does refer to my piece as a micromosaic, as well as my findings, hence the title. Your brooch is indeed beautiful and beautifully micro, perhaps even a baby micromosaic :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:. Anyway to avoid confusion I edited the title to ensure less pain for the masses from being mislead.
